Château La Conseillante

Bordeaux > Pomerol - 80.00% Merlot; 20.00% Cabernet Franc

Château La Conseillante is located on the highest part of the Pomerol plateau. The soil has a large concentration of clay in the northern part, bordering on Pétrus, and clay-gravel soil in the southern part, bordering on Château Cheval Blanc. The grape varieties at La Conseillante are as follows: 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Five generations of the Nicolas family have worked hard to maintain La Conseillante’s excellent reputation since 1871. Care is taken to keep yields low and produce perfectly ripe grapes, which are handpicked. The wine is made in a modern vat room, but in the respect of the traditional methods. Château La Conseillante is aged in 100% new oak barrels in great vintages. Two thirds to three quarters new barrels are used in other years. The wine of La Conseillante is full, round, velvety and creamy with all the voluptuous softness of Merlot combined with the finesse of Cabernet Franc, which also contributes a fruity bouquet with hints of truffle. A perfect balance between elegance and power is the hallmark of La Conseillante.
