Château La Lagune, 3ieme GCC

Bordeaux > Médoc - 55.00% Cabernet Sauvignon; 20.00% Cabernet Franc; 20.00% Merlot; 5.00% Petit Verdot

In 1850, in the first edition of « Bordeaux and its wines », Charles Cocks ranked the Château La Lagune among the third growths. This position was confirmed and made official by the famous 1855 classification. The 77 hectare vineyard, 60 hectares of which form a single block, faces in the ideal direction and is planted according to a traditional selection of grape varieties on an outcrop of sand and light gravel. The wines grown in this soil are characterized by the great finesse and elegance specific to this terroir. The harvest is done by hand, followed by very selective sorting of the grapes. A new vat room makes it possible to transport the grapes by gravity flow into temperature controlled stainless steel vats. The wines are then aged the traditional way in French oak barrels (50-60% new oak every year) for approximately 18 months.
