Champagne Gosset

The oldest winery in Champagne: Aÿ 1584

The legendary champagne house Gosset is known as the oldest winery in the region, whose origins date back to 1584, when it was founded by the nobleman Pierre Gosset. His wines, made in Aÿ, were served at the tables of European royal courts along with the finest bourgognes.

The outstanding reputation of the house of Gosset begins with its vineyards, selecting only the best grapes from premier and grand cru vineyards in the Marne region. And also in the cellars they continue their persistent search for quality, with four centuries of know-how and a lot of patience they make purely gastronomic wines here. Over the years, therefore, they managed to collect countless recognitions for the full range of champagnes they offer.

"At Gosset, we produce a wine first and foremost, the bubbles only add to its beauty" - Jean-Pierre Mareigner

Unlike many producers, Gosset deliberately avoids malolactic fermentation, allowing the wines to retain their malic acidity, keeping them tight and fresh. In addition, they use extended lagering on the 'lies' to further bring out the unique characteristics of the different grapes and terroirs. The result is incredible dynamic wines that can even age perfectly in the cellar. Before bringing their cuvées to market, Gosset itself ensures optimal aging between four and five years for NV Champagnes and between seven and ten years for specialty cuvées. The house style is characterized by creamy champagnes with refined pearl and beautiful acidity. They are dry, full-bodied and with aromas of yeast and cookie.

Perfect partner at the table

Their most iconic champagne, Gosset Grande Réserve, is a powerful blend of several vintages and is made primarily of chardonnay and pinot noir, supplemented by pinot meunier. By the way, it is touted as the "food champagne" par excellence! The Gosset Grand Rosé is made largely from chardonnay and then supplemented with pinot noir and meunier, as well as 8% red reserve wine from the vineyards of Ambonnay. Gosset Grand Blanc de Blancs is an assemblage of several vintages and consists 100% of chardonnay. It is a highly gourmet wine made with grapes from fifteen different communes: both from the Côte de Blancs for finesse and from the Montagne de Reims for structure. The Gosset Grand Millésime is made primarily from pinot noir, supplemented by chardonnay.

Crème de la crème

The top of the Gosset range consists of the so-called Celebris series. Celebris Vintage 2012 is made from 70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir grapes sourced from Grand Cru communes of Chouilly, Cramant, Le Mesnil sur Oger, Aÿ, Bouzy and Verzy. After aging for at least ten years, this cuvée is only released to the market, and even then, this special wine can still handle years of cellar aging. It is a wine to taste and savour, a champagne that rivals the absolute best, and it is therefore only made in the very best years.

The wines of Gosset are therefore champagnes for the true connoisseur and are especially delicious with a gourmet meal!
