The name of the winery, Ca' Marcanda, meaning "house of endless negotiations," refers to the long hours Angelo Gaja spent negotiating the purchase of the estate from the previous owners. It is one of the most coveted areas in the region, where primarily noble foreign grape varieties are planted and wines of the highest quality are produced.
