A short 25-minute ferry ride from Skye brings you to this island, where nature rules and history echoes in every nook and cranny. With a population of only 161, it is a place of tranquility, tradition and unique flavors.

A pioneer in an ancient tradition

Although the Isle of Raasay Distillery only distilled its first spirit in 2017, the distillery draws on a rich history of illicit distillation dating back to the 19th century. Here, where clandestine cauldrons were once hidden, now flourishes a legal distillery that manages to capture the essence of the island in every bottle.

The adventure began with a collaboration between entrepreneur Bill Dobbie and whiskey connoisseur Alasdair Day, who brought together their shared passion for innovation and craft. In 2020, their effort flowed into a historic milestone: the first Isle of Raasay Single Malt.

Many flavors, one island

The whiskey and gin of the Isle of Raasay tell the story of their origins. They are an ode to the island itself, with ingredients and inspiration that come directly from the environment. From the spring water filtered through volcanic rock and sandstone, to the Scottish barley shared with local farmers - every step is a collaboration with nature.

With six distinctive barrel types, the distillery creates a complex palette of flavors. The lightly peated Isle of Raasay Single Malt, for example, combines gentle peat smoke with rich notes of dark fruit, perfectly balanced.

A bottle of heritage

Not only the contents, but the bottle itself is a tribute to Raasay. Inspired by the rugged landscape, the design is embellished with fossils and stones from the island, making it seem as if you are holding a piece of Raasay in your hands - wherever you are in the world.
